Public luge sessions are scheduled from Friday to Sunday each weekend of the winter. Each luge session includes a brief tutorial from an experienced luge coach, all necessary equipment, plenty of free sliding time and a fun competition with a medals ceremony. Passes for the luge track must be purchased in advance of your visit. Luge reservations may be cancelled for a full refund after submitting a cancellation request in writing (mail or email) at least 21 days in advance of the scheduled session. If we are unable to operate the luge track due to inclement or unseasonable weather conditions you will be offered a full refund or opportunity to reschedule for a later date.
All participants must be at least 8 years old on the date of their reservation. Immediately prior to your luge session we’ll ask that you sign a Luge Waiver and provide proof of health insurance coverage. Participants of minority age should have their waiver signed by a legal guardian. This is a requirement of all luge tracks in the United States regulated by the USA Luge organization. We cannot make any exceptions to this rule. You can save time when you arrive by downloading and completing the luge waiver in advance.
Of course, we’ll be outside in the winter elements. To ensure you enjoy your time please remember to dress in warm clothing. It’s often helpful to wear layers so you can remove clothing as you start to get active and warm up. You should wear a jacket that you wouldn’t mind doing some damage to. As you slide down the track you might brush against the sidewall which can cause friction burns or tears in polyester material. It’s also important to wear good gloves with padding to offer a little extra protection if your hands hit the sidewall. You should also wear warm shoes that are comfortable for climbing stairs. We will provide you with elbow pads and helmets.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled luge time. This will ensure enough time to get your luge waiver and insurance information taken care before your luge session begins. When you arrive you can enter through the lodge. A staff member inside will be able to direct you to the luge track to check in and prepare for your session.
MWSC is located inside Muskegon State Park. The Michigan DNR requires all vehicles parking inside the Park to have a Recreation Passport. If your vehicle is registered in Michigan you may have purchased a Recreation Passport when you registered. If not, a Passport can be purchased at the Lodge for $11. If your vehicle is registered outside of Michigan you can purchase a daily non-resident Recreation Passport for $9 or an annual Passport for $32 at the lodge.
