The Youth Luge League is a grassroots program for youths ranging from 8 to 16 years old. This program develops basic skills and race techniques for participants. Skills are developed by runs down the track and coaches monitoring individual runs. Selected youth are eligible to travel to Lake Placid for further screening to be selected for US Luge Junior National camps and ultimately Junior National Team selection.
Cost: $60.00 for the season
First night of leagues begin the first Thursday after New Year’s Day at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held in the sports lodge. Then every Thursday thereafter until March (weather permitting).
Health insurance is required and a luge sports physical must be completed. A waiver must also be signed by the parent or legal guardian.Download Waiver Form
Parents are required to be in attendance while their children are sliding. Parents or guardian are also required to help carry their child’s sled back up hill if they are unable to do so themselves.
There have been several youth who have moved on to participate in the national programs. While truly an honor and exciting, it is a life changing commitment to take that step which requires years of dedication, expense, and skill development to become internationally competitive.
We provide all sliding equipment such as helmet, sled and elbow pads. Participants should bring a lightweight pair of insulated boots or shoes, sweatpants, sweatshirt and gloves. It is good to have a winter jacket to wear in between runs.
