Winter Hiking with Snowshoes

Our snowshoe trails are a great way to see Muskegon State Park. Our trails will take you from the low levels of the white pine forest to the tops of the Lake Michigan sand dunes with breathtaking views of the tree canopy, Lake Michigan, and Muskegon Lake. Trails are groomed and marked to guide you to natural features and landmarks like the Block House. Our snowshoe trails are not lighted but can be navigated at night with a good headlamp.

Easy and Challenging Trails

The marked snowshoe trail system features four different loops. The Woods Loop is flat and short – good for beginners and youngsters. The Lake Michigan Loop is an intermediate distance and relatively flat. This loop will take you right up to Lake Michigan and connects to the more challenging Highlands Loop for a good view of the Lake from the top of a sand dune. The Lost Lake Loop is the most challenging trail, which will take you around the outer perimeter of the Sports Park and from the lowest point at Lost Lake to the highest point at the Block House Hill.
